I use another Chrome extension 'Simple Auto Scroll' which auto scrolls webpages. When I'm reading long articles it's not very practical or easy to say 'scroll down' dozens of times. Is there any way to make it possible to click extension buttons in chrome so that I could auto scroll pages or do other things with Chrome extensions?
And thank you for all your hard work making this great extension!
Or maybe a native option to auto scroll at customisable slow, medium and fast speeds?
Thanks for the feedback ?
There is no way to simulate or execute a click over a chrome extension icon (it's a security restriction), but an automatic scroll is something that can be supported as a voice command.
What to do you think of this sequence:
1. The person says "Auto scroll"
2. The web page is scrolled down (one or two lines per second)
3. The scrolling stops soon as the person says "stop", or the scrolling got to the bottom of the page.
That would be wonderful. Would there be a way to have different customisable speeds? Sometimes I want to quickly skim through posts in a forum, and sometimes I want to read every line in an article. Something like 'auto scroll fast' and 'auto scroll slow', maybe a third medium speed?
Yes! we can create several voice commands as you've mentioned.
Or we can create only one command called "auto scroll" and then you can say
- "stop" or "exit": for finishing the scrolling session
- "faster": for increasing the scrolling speed
- "slower": for decreasing the scrolling speed
The default speed would be 3 and it can be changed in a range of 1 to 10. Where 1 is the min speed and 10 the maximum. The selected number can be stored as the new default speed for the next time you want to auto scroll a page.
Either of those options sound amazing!
Probably the second way would be smoother. Thanks so much for the quick reply!
Awesome, I'll be working on this new feature. I hope I can release it in two weeks, I'll post here soon as it is released.
Thanks for purpose it, feel free to post any other question or improvement.
Thanks so much! I look forward to it ?
A new version of the extension (2.7.0) has been released. Within this version, the new voice command "Auto Scroll" was introduced as it was described in this thread.
